BRISTOL, Vt. (AP) — A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in a fatal shooting of another teenager in Bristol, Vermont State Police said Tuesday.
The teen from Burlington was in possession of a handgun while sitting in the backseat of a vehicle parked outside a home in Bristol on Monday night when the gun discharged and hit another 14-year-old boy who was sitting in the front passenger seat, police said.
The victim is identified as Madden Gouveia, of Shelburne, police said. The other teen was expected to be arraigned on Tuesday afternoon. The charges had not been released and it was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.
Police did not provide any other details.
